The redevelopment of Frankston Hospital marks an exciting milestone, led by the Victorian Health Building Authority in partnership with Peninsula Health and the Exemplar Health consortium. This innovative project is set to transform healthcare services for the Frankston community, introducing state-of-the-art facilities designed to meet future needs.
Using the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model under the Partnerships Victoria framework, the redevelopment combines the expertise of a private consortium to design, build, finance, and maintain the hospital over a 25-year period. After a competitive tender process, the Exemplar Health consortium was selected in 2022 to bring this visionary project to life. The consortium includes Capella Capital as sponsor and investor, Aware Super as an investor, Lendlease as the builder, and Honeywell and Compass Group Australia to manage facilities and maintenance. The design team, featuring Bates Smart, Conrad Gargett, WSP, and Waterman AHW, has worked collaboratively to create a contemporary and highly functional hospital design.
Complementing the redevelopment, a purpose-built Jenny’s Early Learning Centre will be established to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment for children to play, learn, and thrive. This state-of-the-art facility will blend indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly, catering to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years old. Offering both extended day care and a tailored Kindergarten program, the centre will serve the needs of local families and hospital staff alike.
Construction for the Frankston redevelopment is set to begin in early 2026, following the initial refurbishment of the existing hospital. This transformative project will deliver exceptional healthcare and early learning facilities, setting a new standard of excellence for the community.
